2020 Toyota RAV4 Redesign, Performance, MPG, Price & Availability
The 2018 Camry did have its moment. But, there is another Toyota that will steal the spotlight. Namely, the 2020 Toyota RAV4. It is a well-known fact that Camry is Toyota’s best-selling for more than 10 years. And yet, the RAV4 line surpassed its sales in 2017. So, what will the upcoming RAV4 have in store?
2020 Toyota RAV4 Redesign
The upcoming RAV will be a redesigned version of the current RAV4, which is one of Toyota’s best-selling vehicles. The current RAV4 has been successful on the market with its current form. As such, we can expect the RAV4 to be faithful to the design. We get a glimpse of the design from the 2020 Toyota RAV4 spy shots.
So, what do we know about the 2020 Toyota RAV4 redesign? Well, according to the spy photos, the next RAV4 will have a more rugged style which is inspired by the FT-AC concept. Also, the next RAV4 will have a more adventurous look, blunt front end, and more squared-off greenhouse. Again, according to the spy shots.
Is the redesign important? Of course. While the current model has sold better than its competitors, it is behind the curve if we are to compare it with latest entries like the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V. Because of this, the next model is expected to be able to compete with these tech-savvy, great-driving competitors.
If we use the 2018 Camry as an indicator, the next RAV can be expected to get some improvement on its dynamic front. It should also improve its features such as Apple CarPlay, which is at last launched in the 2019 Avalon and active-safety systems.
Engine and Performance
The next-generation Toyota RAV4 will likely to come with a more powerful 4-cylinder engine although with no turbocharger. Since Toyota has been resistant to the pairing of a 4-cylinder engine and turbocharger on its products, we can expect the same applies for the upcoming RAV4.
The current model has a 2.5-liter, I-4 engine capable of generating 176 horsepower with 172 lb-ft torque paired with 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox. You can expect the new RAV4 to have at least this engine. That said, the new model will probably have a more powerful engine paired with 8-speed transmission gearbox.
Speaking of which, the current front-wheel-drive model can hit 60 mph in 9.4 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive can hit the same speed in 8.7 seconds. The next RAV4 may be quicker than this.
2020 Toyota RAV4 Release Date and Price
Now, about the release date and price. The release date of the upcoming RAV4 has not been revealed yet. However, rumor has it that the new RAV4 will be released in the second half of 2018. As for the price, we expect the base model to be sold at around $24,500, a slight increase from the current model.
So far, these are what we know about the 2020 Toyota RAV4. You can expect the upcoming RAV4 to be more or less like that. Many people are excited to see how the next RAV4 will turn out. What about you? Are you excited too?
