2020 Lexus GX Redesign, Model Trims, Release Date
These days, the luxury SUV segment is quite the rage. As such, every manufacturer tries to woo the consumers with their own luxury SUVs. In this article, we are going to tell you about the soon-to-be-released luxury SUV from Lexus: the 2020 Lexus GX. We will cover its redesign, engine, features, release date and price.
2020 Lexus GX Redesign & Improvement
Since the current model only got some minor changes, we expect to see the new Lexus GX redesign in both exterior and interior. For the exterior, it seems that the upcoming Lexus GX will get a redesigned grille at its front, revised LED foglights and bumper. We also expect the new generation model to have a more modern look and sharper-looking exterior.
As for the 2020 Lexus GX interior, we are likely to see a comfortable and spacious cabin with lots of modern features. Inside, there will be three seating rows which can accommodate up to seven adult passengers. The third-row seats can be folded, thus offering more cargo space.
The base trim of Lexus GX is going to get NuLuxe upholstery and the Premium one will get real leather upholstery. The dashboard will have an 8-inch touchscreen display for infotainment features.
The standard equipment inside includes cruise control, a moonroof, power front seats, power features, and a rearview camera. Other equipments such as ventilated and heated front seats, navigation and smartphone connectivity are also available although they are optional.
Engine Specs & Fuel Economy
Speaking of what is under the hood, it seems 2020 Lexus GX 460 model will only be available in one engine option. The upcoming Lexus GX is going to use a 4.6-liter, V-8 engine which has an output of 301 horsepower with 329 pound-ft of torque. As you may have noticed, this is the same engine that is used by the current model. The new Lexus GX will have six automatic transmissions with an all-wheel-drive system as the standard.
With such an engine, the Luxury SUV will reach 60 mph in 7.8 seconds. For other car types, this is slow. However, since it is a heavyweight SUV, this should not be a problem. As for its fuel economy, it is 15 mpg (city) and 18 mpg (highway).
The New Lexus GX will offer lots of features. The standard features include active head restraints, 10 airbags, a rearview camera and hands-free calling via Bluetooth. There are also adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitors as well as lane departure warning. These features, however, are optional and not standard.
2020 Lexus GX Release Date and Price
There is no official statement about the exact Lexus GX release date yet. That being the case, upcoming Lexus GX should arrive in late 2018. There is no exact detail about the price, either. We expect the starting price for the base trim will be around $52,000, the Premium $56,000 and the fully-loaded version $63,000.
So far, with all of its redesign and updates, the 2020 Lexus GX seems to be a quite good midsized luxury SUV. While updates are always good, its redesign may be a hit or miss. Also, the safety features are excellent, especially the top ones. What is unfortunate, however, is that these features are optional and not standard.
