The Jeep Cherokee line is one of the most polarizing vehicle resurrections thanks to its bug-eyed and curvy design which stray from the traditional truck design. The good news is that the line will have a successor soon. That’s right. There will be 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The new Jeep Cherokee is expected to have a more powerful engine, a new face as well as strategic nips and tucks.
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee redesign has been known through some leaked images back in December. Now that it has been officially launched, we know more about the new car. Now, let’s see what it has.
2020 Grand Cherokee Redesign & Changes
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee new generation has been redesigned. Its tailgate now is not as dominant as the current model does. This means that the previously empty, large concave expanse is now broken up. As for the overall design, it looks like a mix between a Grand Cherokee and a Compass.
As for the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee interior, the redesigned cargo area allows more space, bringing its capacity to 28 cubic feet. The car will weigh approximately 200 pounds less than the current model. This is due to the redesign in its center differential for the all-wheel-drive models and the use of lightweight materials such as composite for the tailgate and aluminum for the hood.
Cherokee Exterior Color Options
- Billet Silver.
- Velvet Red.
- Diamond Black.
- Bright White.

- Walnut Brown.
As for the trim, there will be five options available. They are Trailhawk, Overland, Limited, Latitude Plus and Latitude.
Engine Specs & features; Powerful V8 Engine
Now, the engine. This is where things get interesting. Why? Because there are many engine options to choose from. The base model comes with a 3.6-liter, V6 engine capable of generating 295 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque. A 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine rated at 270 horsepower with 295 lb-ft of torque is also available.
For those who look for excitement, there is a more powerful 5.7-liter, V8 engine capable of generating 360 horsepower with 390 lb-ft of torque and the most powerful one, a 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 engine producing 707 horsepower with 645 lb-ft of torque. These engines really are powerful but do keep in mind that they are fuel-hungry.
Speaking of features, the new Cherokee is expected to provide a better driving experience than its predecessor. It is likely to come with new software to smoothen out its 9-speed transmission shifts as well as increase its fuel economy. Not only that, the infotainment system is also improved, which makes the car to be compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date and Price
While the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee release date has been known, the arrival date is not yet known. When it arrives, you can expect it to be sold at a similar price range as the current model, between $31,000 and $86,000.
